The Columbus metropolitan statistical area (MSA) regional population increased to 1.944 milion people in the latest U.S. census estimate. The larger combined statistical area (CSA) which includes areas that depend heavily on Columbus resources increased to 2.348 million people. Both population estimates are good news in terms of growth. An interesting statistic was that Franklin county experienced the highest growth rate in the state slightly beating out Delaware county. This seems to support the recent trend of people moving back to the cities urban areas.
